Buckle up Bifolds- Bifolds to tighten Security
Ever asked the question, how secure are bifolding doors? Are they still as secure as composite doors or French doors with them being all glass? Some customers may assume that because bifolds are floor to ceiling glass they are less secure, maybe the glass could be inviting for intruders? Or the glass could be easily breakable?
The answer to the above is in fact that bifolding doors couldn’t be any more secure if they tried. The reason for this… The glass provided is toughened on the inside as well as the outside. Double glazing makes it far from easy to break from the outside. So, to answer the question regarding intruders? Well.. For an intruder to break inside they would have to use the correct tools and they would be faced with a huge obstacle of lifting a whole pane of glass which wouldn’t go unnoticed. Plus, the glass would have to be uprooted from its mechanism which is a rather technical process.

Buckle up tight with our Locks as Standard and Various locks available
Our SMART bi folds hold a multi-point locking system as standard. A multi-point locking system bolts the door into the frame and locks at multiple points at the turn of a key, giving a high level of security. It’s common in modern houses as you’ll usually find this type of lock on UPVC and composite doors. So multi lock is quite simply self-explanatory, our bi fold doors lock from multiple points making them more secure than any normal sliding doors which will only lock at one point.
Options available for other locks are the Twin-point lock which includes a handle that operates from the top and bottom of the lead door and will secure the lock mechanism in just one movement.
The drop-bolt lock is when closed over these locks have locking pins in the lock body that drop down into the holes and therefore secure the locking system. Having an additional drop bolt lock will ensure your bi fold can’t be forced open therefore preventing unwanted entry. With this in mind Framelines Bifolding doors will provide you or your customers with peace of mind and overall the safety they require.
